| Congratulations to Ely
Camera Club who won the inaugural
four-way battle on 9th December 2010. Despite a strong showing in
the projected images, March's prints faired badly and we got the
wooden spoon. The results were Ely 273 points, St Ives 268 points, St
Neots 264 points, March 262 points. Many thanks to Daphne Hanson for
her excellent judging on the night. |

| We all thoroughly enjoyed
Paul Beastall's talk "I've Never Been to India" on 2nd December 2010.
It was an entertaining, educational and extremely well put together
presentation about photographing captive animals. Paul has then used
his learned skills to great effect in the wild too.

photograph a pencil - which should be the dominant subject)

"The Turbinator"
The Chairman's Challenge for 2011 is to
photograph any drinking glass (eg beaker, wine glass, pint glass).
Again the glass must be the dominant subject in the photograph. Two
entries per member are allowed and entries can be either a print or
projected image.

St George's Fayre 2010 was a great success and March Camera Club
was represented by club members who manned a stall on the Market Place
throughout much of the day. |

| Four Way Battle 2010
(held at Peterborough and judged by Bob Rowe from Nottingham 13th
April) |
Despite a 20/20 winner in the
prints (Pat Ringham's "What makes him tick?") March took the
wooden spoon in that section. However, we triumphed in the
projection images and also had another 20/20 (Chris Ley's "Who's
gonna drive you home tonight?"). Overall March came third and the
results were:

March came sixth out of twelve clubs in the 2010 Brotherhood Challenge
Cup held at Peterborough on 16th March 2010. Colin Southgate judged a
very close competition with only four points separating the first six.
Chris Ley won the best image award with "Who's Gonna Drive
You Home Tonight?"

Interprint Competition
(there were 31 clubs represented).

"The Chairman's Challenge 2009"
Congratulations to Chris Ley who won the first "Chairman's Challenge (and
is £10 better off) - prints were produced with a pinhole camera and judged
by Allan Howe. "Blurry Furries" opposite was taken through a pinhole
approximately 0.3mm diameter with an exposure of 4 seconds at ISO 400.
The Chairman's Challenge for 2010 is to produce images in which the
dominant part of the picture features the pencil issued by Allan for this
very purpose. |

The 2009 exhibition at March Town Library ran from Wednesday
25th August to Saturday 5th September.

Congratulations to Pat Ringham LRPS whose colour print "What
makes him tick?" has been accepted into the PAGB Exhibition 2009. It
scored 12/15 in the PAGB Inter-Federation Competition and was Highly
Commended. The image is on line in the EAF web site 2009 Gallery.
Cliff Marsh LRPS also had a monochrome print "The
Stationmaster" judged and scored a very creditable 10/15 points. This
image can be seen in our Set Subject 2009 "Other Competitions" section.

The 2009 Annual Barbeque:
This was a most enjoyable event held on Friday 10th July.
Many thanks to "Team Lydia" for hosting another very successful annual
barbeque, congratulations to everyone who received awards.

The club hosted a free Photoshop lecture at March Town
Library on Thursday 9th April 2009 at 2:30pm.
Dave Stewart was the guest lecturer and the talk was a great
success

March won the Invitation Shield, held in Wisbech on 27th October 2008
and Steve Williams won the trophy for the best print for the second
year running!
We scored 141 points, ahead of Deepings with 139 and Lynn with 138.
There were seven clubs and each submitted four print and four slides.
the judge was Peter Yeo, FRPS, PAGB, APAGB from Gainsborough.

| We had an excellent talk from Sarah Graves of the Welney
Wildfowl and Wetland Trust on Thursday 23rd October. She gave us a
great deal of information about Welney through the seasons
illustrated by photographs. See

The annual BBQ took place on Friday 4th July 2008; many
thanks to Team Lydia for organising such an excellent evening which

The Club had a successful day out to the Bure Valley on Sunday 8th
June 2008. Fourteen went over and took the steam train from Aylsham to
Wroxham then went on a two hour river cruise.

March Camera Club was invited to the Library on Saturday 23rd February
to participate in the formal presentation of a graphics panel of
images taken by our Club and donated by the Friends of March Library.
The presentation was made by Jan French, March Town Mayor.

Peterborough won the Four-way Battle on Valentine's night
2008. Deeping
came second, March came third, and Spalding fourth. This was hosted at
March Town Cricket Club.
